We are extremely happy to announce that we will have Nam HyoJun’s solo exhibition “middle tension” at CASHI from April 10 to 25.
Nam HyoJun is a third-generation Korean-Japanese who was born in Japan, holds citizenship in South Korea, and was educated in a North Korean way. Korean-Japanese people often have such complicated backgrounds and therefore see not a little dilemma with their education as well as in living a life as ordinary youths who live in such an advanced country as contemporary Japan. Nam HyoJun, among these youths, has confronted his own dilemma of the same kind and expressed with his sensibility specific to contemporary youths the issues that could be negatively understood at the first glance in a very positive and sharp manner.
The works of Nam HyoJun, which keep on expressing one’s own raison d’etre and identity and the greatness of having dreams and hopes in a straightforward manner, throws a critical message not only over contemporary youths who share the same problems of ethnic identity but also onto modern adult citizens.
This event is his first personal exhibition in Tokyo and is mainly comprised of his recent works of paintings, drawings, and installations.
The artist himself will come to the gallery at the reception on the first day, April 10. We are taking the liberty of hoping that you will come to see the exhibition and introduce the event to your friends and associates.
