Thur. 6 March – Sun. 4 May 2014
Artist: Yugo KOHROGI
Reception party : Fri. 14 March 18:00-20:00
CASHI would like to announce that from the 6 March we will hold a solo exhibition by Yugo KOHROGI called “Hopscotch.”
KOHROGI is a young painter whose style is like a delicate melting touch, and who paints animal and human motifs. This is his first solo show since returning to Japan from a one year stay abroad where he mainly composed approximately 150 drawings around Europe.
His solo exhibition is entitled “Hopscotch”, and as the name suggests, you can see his free and uninhibited hand drawn pictures.
There are facial expressions of people and animals caught within the moment of a glance, slow trembling interspatial memories and visionary fragment-like scenes. In each piece of work his gaze seems to be haunted by the lingering scent of a soft and quiet world.
These drawings were completed with oil based lead pencils, oil based colour pencils and water based pens, and this new work, which includes previously unexhibited abstract and portrait styles, will be published just once.
The artist will join us at the gallery for our reception party on the March 14. For CASHI, this is the third time we have held his solo exhibition, and we hope to present and introduce you to the observant eye and depiction of elegant colours by KOHROGI, as well as the opportunity to peer into KOHROGI’s own deep world.
