“Slight earthquake with a seismic intensity of 1” Sachiko MIKI
Fri.3 October – Sat.25 October 2008
Opening reception : Fri.3 October 18:00-20:00
In the end of summer, we are glad to hear that things are going well for you.
CASHI will hold a solo exhibition of Sachiko Miki entitled “Slight earthquake with a seismic intensity of 1” from October 3rd to 25th. Sachiko MIKI was born in 1974, and is a female sculptor energetically working around Tokyo after completing the trainee system (sculpture field), which is equivalent to the present graduate school of Tokyo University of Art and Design.
The form just like human fetus and the “Tears” streaming from the stony works characterizes Miki’s works. Particularly, the “Tears” means the tears of Miki herself and is a coherent theme of her work for the past few years. These elements tend to direct us to the negative flow, but her works rather give the impression of feminacy and energy toward life because of motif of flower and vividness of color.
The exhibition entitled “Slight earthquake with a seismic intensity of 1” is planned to consist of six pieces of old and new work, and to create the whole gallery colorfully as a Miki’s space.
The sculptor will also come to the gallery for the reception on October 3rd, the first day. We would like to invite you to come to the exhibition and would like you to inform it to others.
