Cashi proudly presents a solo exhibition entitled ‘Ripple’ by Yugo Kohrogi which will take place from the 6th of December (Saturday) to the 25th of January (Sunday).
Kohrogi is a young artist who draws using a motif of women and animals, and more, with a tantalizing touch. Last year, approximately one year ago, he went on a round trip between Europe and Japan, and during his stay abroad he continued to work on his art while broadening his knowledge. This year in March he held his first solo exhibition since returning to Japan, this was comprised of 150 drawings that were made in Europe and were placed on the walls in order to display his achievements. After that he had another solo exhibition in June at Yoshimi Arts in Osaka which centred on new oil paintings. Since returning to Japan he has been really working hard with all of his energy. For his latest exhibition he has used four F120 canvases and around these we will present five completely new points.
Up to now Kohrogi has presented a series of work which have included light-like flame and the feminine form. This time he has created large works of art that include these motifs, and through the use of a screen, in which these both melt and expand, they overlap with a diffuse sense of perspective of a dissolved design of a painting on a folding screen.
In addition, with the feminine motif that has been used up to now, the ‘l’ (L) series and the ‘/’ (slash) series have been intentionally drawn with a focus on the tangible faces and expressions of women, and Kohrogi’s overflowing densely textured new work allows you to feel how he has been developing.
On the 27th there will be a reception party which the artist will attend. By experiencing a long stay abroad you can see how Kohrogi’s world has developed further. We welcome your visit and would be honoured to introduce and guide you into this world.
*Please note that there won’t be a reception party on the first day of this exhibition.
