Keita SAGAKI “Obit”
“Obit”
Fri.3 December – Sat.25 December 2010
Reception Party : Fri.3 December 18:00-20:00
CASHI holds a solo exhibition of Keita Sagaki, entitled “Obit” from December 3 to December 25.
Keita Sagaki is a young painter who has employed the artistic method to fill out a pure white material with numerous motifs. Packed information in one place are depicted with a fine felt-tipped pen only.
Delicate and yet robust works created in organized fashion knock out people viewing his works. At a glance, motifs he focuses on on his works look ones of familiar paintings and scenery to us all.
But a little closer to his works, drawn by their vague uniqueness, one cannot help feeling once again drawn into and fascinated by his works where fetus, womb, sexual motif and unique small characters, despite their exquisiteness, look vying with one another.
They look as if they were making fun of us living in modern society seemingly satisfied with formal simplicity, and many of interrelated motifs expanding on his works look as if they were gods’ eyes overlooking every human desire.
This is CASHI’s second solo exhibition of Keita Sagaki, who has demonstrated remarkable accomplishments as seen in his winning this fiscal year’s Okamoto Taro Modern Arts Award (Taro Award) following the honors of selection at Shell Art Award 2007 and at the same award in 2008.
The exhibition shows four works including the new one expected to create artistic space.
We cordially invite you to appreciate Keita Sagaki’s more profound, more beautiful, more refined works.
